I graduated with a 4.0 & honors from Stuyvesant HS, NYC's top high school, and am attending Georgetown University majoring in International Business, Language, and Culture I have extensive experience with essay editing & English tutoring and I love seeing my students make progress; in the past two years I have I tutored students to gain admission into Stuyvesant through A+ academy, tutored students to score higher on specifically the SAT Reading section, and helped other high school students make their rough drafts of their college essays. As for test scores, I scored a 665 on the SHSAT and a 1590 on the SAT. I have a tutoring philosophy to test prep where I coach students 50% through the information they need to know for the test, and the other 50% consists of strategies, pattern recognizing, working through nerves and psychological roadblocks, and the habits and mindset that one can foster to go into a standardized test and excel. As for writing and essay editing and tutoring, I have several creative approaches when it comes to tackling creative writing. In the brainstorming stage, I play these association games with them where the intention is to say the first, most instinctual reaction to a prompt; another game is where I have them read a good essay, but the paragraphs are all scrambled. I believe these exercises and creative approaches can help a young student develop strong and independent skills for themselves, instead of being confined to the traditional textbook method of learning. As a student who has gone through the many similar trials and tribulations of testing, essay writing, and everything in between, it makes me genuinely happy to see my students progress, and I can't wait to do more of that with you!
