Elsa is the Founder and Managing Partner of Toro Ventures, a VC firm focused on early-stage startups. Her extensive experience in the startup industry includes roles as a scrappy entrepreneur and investor. She served as an advisor for the Impact Investment Committee of INADEM, a Mexican government development fund. To this date, Elsa has analyzed over 1,000 pitch decks and made significant investments as both a Venture Capital and an Angel Investor. Elsa is a full-time MBA at Duke.

 

Panelists:

 

Juan Manuel Contreras, Ph.D., is a co-founder and the CEO of Aymara, a startup building tools to make generative AI safe. He has spent over a decade working in AI, including leading an applied science team at Uber that worked at the intersection of AI, law, and compliance. Juan Manuel trained as a cognitive neuroscientist and social psychologist at Harvard University and Princeton University.

 

Aurelia Flores is an Investment Director at Virginia Venture Partners, ranked among the nation's top seed investors. Previously a Venture Partner at New Markets Venture Partners, she co-founded Citrine Angels, an angel group that has invested in 20 companies that have collectively raised over $400M. She graduated from Stanford Law School and Colorado College.

 

Ricardo Raphael Corona-Moreno: As Sr. Director of Entrepreneurial Inclusion at MLT, Ricardo supports and guides founders of color along their startup journey. His program's have had two successful runs that have yielded a handful of founders who have collectively raised $5.6M USD within a year of achieving admissions at top accelerators (Techstars, Y Combinator).

Ricardo is a Stanford (BS, PhD) engineer and worked as a Technology Principal for Comet Labs, the AI and machine learning american-arm of China’s Legend Holdings (联想控股股份有限公司), prior to becoming an MLT MBA Prep fellow.
