Spencer Rascoff interview and QA with Ed Elson Feb 13.png

I will interview Spencer Rascoff on how he transitioned from Investment Banking to Entrepreneurship to Venture Capital and what he learned at each of the three phases in his career.

I will go in-depth into his experience co-founding Zillow and Hotwire.

What investors should know about investing in startups.

We will have a Q&A after the discussion.

Brief background on Spencer.

He is Co-Founder and General Partner at 75 & Sunny. Spencer is an entrepreneur and company leader who co-founded Zillow, Hotwire, dot.LA, Pacaso, Recon Food, Queue, and heyLibby and who served as Zillow's CEO for a decade. During Spencer’s time as CEO, Zillow won dozens of “best places to work” awards as it grew to over 4,500 employees, $3 billion in revenue, and $10 billion in market capitalization.

Prior to Zillow, Spencer co-founded and was VP of Corporate Development of Hotwire, which was sold to Expedia for $685 million in 2003.

Spencer graduated cum laude from Harvard University.

In spring 2022, Spencer was a Visiting Professor, where he taught Harvard College’s first-ever startup class, “Startups from Ideation to Exit,” and in fall 2019, he co-created and co-taught the Harvard Business School course, “Managing Tech Ventures." Rascoff worked as a private equity investor at TPG Capital and an investment banker at Goldman Sachs.

A little background on me: I’m a writer, analyst, and co-host of the Prof G Markets podcast. I have co-written Scott Galloway’s Webby Award-winning newsletter, No Mercy / No Malice, and the New York Times bestseller, Adrift. Before podcasting, I worked as a research assistant to writer Michael Wolff.

I graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Classics.
