The Role Oaktree is seeking a summer intern with a 2028 expected graduation date to spend 10-weeks within our Risk, Reporting, and Analytics team. This role will focus on developing and enhancing quantitative models that support portfolio construction, investment research, and risk management across the firm. The position will also involve designing and implementing automated analytical tools and workflows to improve efficiency, insight generation, and portfolio-level analytics.
Responsibilities include:
Design and build robust quantitative models to support portfolio construction, risk analytics, and investment research.
Develop and automate data pipelines and analytical processes using Python, SQL, and modern data engineering technologies.
Explore opportunities to incorporate advanced analytical techniques, including AI-driven automation, to streamline workflows and enhance data interpretation.
Collaborate with data engineers, investment professionals, and technology teams to implement scalable modeling and automation solutions.
Evaluate new datasets, tools, and external data providers to enhance Oaktree’s investment process.
Document and communicate technical concepts, model methodologies, and analytical insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the firm.
Qualifications:
Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
Familiarity with databases, data modeling, and statistical methods.
Experience with scientific computing and machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Exposure to fixed income securities and a foundational understanding of financial instruments and markets.
Curiosity, initiative, and a strong desire to develop new technical and analytical capabilities.
Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Degree in engineering, computer science, financial engineering, operations research, or a related quantitative discipline.
