Its largest business is private-pay senior housing, which includes over 850 communities serving nearly 90,000 residents, alongside outpatient medical buildings, research centers, and healthcare facilities that meet the needs of an aging population. Backed by strong financial performance and a collaborative culture, Ventas is positioned at the intersection of real estate, healthcare, and innovation to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.

The Asset Management team plays a critical role in advancing the Company’s strategy by maximizing the performance of its diversified healthcare real estate portfolio. Through thoughtful partnerships with operators and data-driven insights, the team drives value creation, optimizes capital investments, and ensures assets are well-positioned to meet the growing needs of the aging population.

About The Role

Ventas offers a small, high-touch Internship Program designed to give students firsthand exposure to the intersection of commercial real estate, finance, and healthcare. Over the course of this 10-week summer program, our interns gain meaningful, hands-on experience working alongside industry professionals, while exploring potential career paths and building valuable networks in a mission-driven space.

As an Intern in Asset Management, you will work with our Outpatient Medical, Research, and Healthcare teams, gaining insight into how Ventas manages and grows its diverse real estate portfolio. The role provides opportunities to strengthen financial analysis skills, develop industry knowledge, and contribute to projects that support the performance of more than 600 properties. Interns will contribute in the following ways

  • Analyze tenant and borrower performance to inform portfolio strategy and decision-making

  • Develop and maintain financial models to track property performance against forecast and identify trends

  • Support lease approval processes by conducting market and competitive property studies, analyzing leasing metrics and preparing clear, data-driven materials for Asset Management

  • Research and synthesize industry developments, publications, and market news to provide strategic insights

  • Partner with Asset Management team members to deliver analytic support across the portfolio

  • Contribute to ad hoc projects that advance portfolio performance and long-term growth initiatives

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a junior in a four-year accredited college or university graduating in 2027

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree – preferred majors include Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or related fields

  • Successful completion of finance, economics, or accounting coursework; minimum 3.5 GPA required

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication (written and oral) skills

  • Knowledge of real estate, finance, and accounting concepts and familiarity working with financial statements

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with strong technical and presentation skills

  • Prior Argus Enterprise experience is preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to learn

  • Must be able to work full-time in Chicago for a minimum of 10 weeks during Summer 2026

  • Must have permanent, unrestricted U.S. work authorization (no current or future sponsorship)

The compensation available for the role considers a variety of factors including, but not limited to, work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, and other business needs. The estimated hourly rate for this position is $30 per hour.
