Job Purpose We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our finance team within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This internship provides hands-on experience across core accounting functions, with a specific focus on optimizing and accelerating our month-end close process. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, analytical, and interested in pursuing a career in corporate accounting or finance. The intern will gain exposure to general ledger activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives while supporting day-to-day accounting activities.
This role will operate in alignment with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as company policies, guidelines, international standards, IT systems, and HSE standards. The position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Support month-end close procedures by preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Analyze current close workflows to identify bottlenecks, duplicate efforts, and automation opportunities.
Map and document the step-by-step month-end close process to create standard operating procedures.
Assist in developing data templates and Excel macros to speed up journal entry preparation.
Research, recommend, and support implementation of best practices to shorten the close cycle.
Prepare weekly accounting reports, variance metrics, financial presentations, and data summaries.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special finance projects and system optimization initiatives.
Perform additional duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications Required
Currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university program pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Fluent in English..
Internship Term
May–August 2026 (minimum 3-month commitment)
Background And Experience
Sophomore or Junior standing preferred.
Strong interest in Corporate Accounting within an industrial or chemicals environment.
Previous internship experience is a plus.
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and accounting software preferred.
Basic understanding of US GAAP or IFRS accounting principles preferred.
Competencies And Skills
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically intermediate-to-advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
Strong attention to detail with effective time management and multitasking skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule
Hybrid: In office Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; remote Tuesday and Friday
