    Laurel D.

    Founder of Sparc

  • KeyPath is an AI-enabled PropTech and FinTech platform designed to align tenant outcomes with landlord economics.

    For renters, KeyPath can provide:

    ·       rewards for positive tenancy behavior

    ·       financial progress tracking

    ·       participation and wealth-building tools

    ·       pathways toward homeownership

    For landlords, KeyPath can provide:

    ·       tenant-retention analytics

    ·       maintenance insights

    ·       reward automation

    ·       portfolio performance analytics

    ·       integrations with existing property-management systems

The challenge is making all of this feel easy.

That is where you come in.

The UX Problems You Will Help Solve

How Does a Tenant Understand Their Progress?

Imagine opening KeyPath and immediately needing to understand:

    ·       What have I earned?

    ·       Why did I earn it?

    ·       What happens next?

    ·       What is my current balance?

    ·       What can I do with it?

    ·       What happens if I move?

    ·       What is a reward versus financial participation?

    ·       What information should I trust?

Your job is to make those answers obvious.

How Does a Landlord Understand ROI?

A landlord may need to see:

    ·       tenant retention

    ·       renewal risk

    ·       reward spending

    ·       maintenance behavior

    ·       expected turnover savings

    ·       property-level NOI impact

    ·       integration health

The challenge is not displaying more data.

The challenge is displaying the right data in the right order.

    How Should AI Recommendations Appear?

    KeyPath may tell a landlord:

    Renewal Risk: High

    Recommended action:

Offer $25 retention incentive + contact resident within 7 days

    Expected intervention cost:

    $25

    Expected avoided turnover value:

    $865

Your job is to help determine how that recommendation should be displayed so the user understands:

    ·       what the AI believes

    ·       why

    ·       how confident it is

    ·       what action is recommended

    ·       what the expected financial impact is

without making AI feel like a mysterious black box.

How Should Complex Agreements Become Understandable?

Housing and financial agreements can be intimidating.

KeyPath needs interfaces that make important information understandable before a user signs anything.

    That can include:

    ·       plain-English summaries

    ·       progress indicators

    ·       visual explanations

    ·       confirmation steps

    ·       disclosures

    ·       tooltips

    ·       examples

    ·       “Before You Sign” experiences

Good UX at KeyPath is therefore also about trust and comprehension.

Depending on product priorities, you may help design:

    ·       Design loading, error, empty, restricted, and partial-data states

    ·       Improve accessibility and responsive behavior

One of the Most Important Rules

    At KeyPath:

Pretty is not the same as good UX.

A beautiful interface that users do not understand is a failed design.

    We care about:

    clarity > decoration

    trust > novelty

    usability > visual complexity

    financial comprehension > jargon

real user behavior > designer assumptions

    What We Are Looking For

You may be a strong fit if you:

    ·       obsess over why users behave the way they do

    ·       notice confusing product experiences

    ·       enjoy simplifying complicated systems

    ·       can explain why you made a design decision

    ·       care about information hierarchy

    ·       understand that design includes workflow, not just visuals

    ·       enjoy talking to users

    ·       can accept critical feedback and iterate quickly

    ·       are comfortable collaborating with software engineers

    Required Qualifications

    You should have experience with:

    ·       Figma

    ·       wireframing

    ·       prototyping

    ·       user flows

    ·       basic UX principles

    ·       responsive design

You should also be able to show examples of previous design work.

    Class projects are acceptable.

    Preferred Experience

    Helpful experience includes:

    ·       product design

    ·       UX research

    ·       design systems

    ·       accessibility

    ·       information architecture

    ·       usability testing

    ·       mobile design

    ·       SaaS products

    ·       dashboard design

    ·       FinTech

    ·       PropTech

    ·       data visualization

    ·       React or frontend development

Coding experience is helpful but not required.

    What You Will Learn

You will gain exposure to designing products involving:

    ·       AI

    ·       real estate

    ·       financial technology

    ·       tenant behavior

    ·       predictive analytics

    ·       complex data

    ·       legal agreements

    ·       dashboards

    ·       multiple stakeholder personas

You will work directly with startup leadership, engineers, and product stakeholders rather than designing hypothetical classroom products.

    Your Portfolio Opportunity

Strong work may become part of KeyPath’s actual product roadmap.

That means your portfolio case study could potentially show the complete process:

    business problem

    user research

    user flow

    wireframes

    prototype

    usability testing

    iteration

    engineering implementation

That is substantially more valuable than simply presenting isolated Figma screens.

    About the company

KeyPath is an AI-powered fintech platform that enables single-family and multifamily landlords to offer tenants and community stakeholders fractional ownership through tokens tied to their rental properties. As tenants pay rent, they accumulate tokens and build equity, earning benefits such as capped rent increases (annually or indefinitely), the option to transfer or sell tokens, and the ability to use them as a down payment on a future home. Landlords retain control through customizable token rights, such as buyback options and ownership milestones that unlock tenant benefits, while improving tenant retention, aligning incentives across renters, landlords, and community stakeholders, and unlocking liquidity in the $49.6 trillion rental housing market.
