The Credit Strategy and the Global Macro team are both looking to hire a 2023 Full Time analyst to join their team.

2023 BAAM Credit Analyst

The Credit Strategy team is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring investments in hedge fund managers and direct investment opportunities throughout the capital structure in corporate and structured credit globally. Analysts are expected to analyze and underwrite investment opportunities, prepare materials for presentation, communicate with managers, investors, and other BAAM teams, and support the team in other core functions.

Responsibilities:

Working with the team to source and perform due diligence on both prospective hedge fund investments within the Credit space and investments across the capital structure in both corporate credit and structured credit (loans, bonds, securitizations, preferred equity, etc.).



Monitoring existing hedge fund and direct investments, including regular conversations with managers, tracking key positions, themes, and exposures in the portfolio, and continuously challenging the investment theses.



Performing deep dive due diligence on companies and assets, including creating detailed financial models and scenario analysis, and researching/monitoring industries and themes.



Structuring investments and/or funds, including covenants, legal and tax structures, and investment parameters.



Developing tools to process and analyze large data sets, including modeling individual investment strategies / exposures as well as broader portfolio construction analyses.



Thinking thematically about Credit strategies broadly and evaluating both the existing portfolio as well as future opportunity sets.



Creating materials for investment presentations and portfolio updates for senior management and external investors.



2023 BAAM Global Macro Analyst

The Global Macro team’s mission is to deliver investments with high absolute returns in an uncorrelated and liquid manner. Global Macro investments are executed through allocations to third-party hedge funds and opportunistic direct investments.



Responsibilities:

Manage relationships with hedge fund partners, including ad hoc communication and travel to meet with managers in person.

Conduct research on new managers.

Run monthly manager calls and summarize performance and positions.

Evaluate hedge fund manager performance vs expectations for a given environment and financial market moves. Conduct manager peer group analysis.

Evaluate opportunistic public market investments, co-investments, and portfolio hedges.

Write IC memos and client reports for new managers and investments.

Prepare talking points for senior members of the Global Macro team for IC and client meetings.

Manage the day-to-day business of the Global Macro team, including responding to client requests, reporting on the group's activities, and processing capital allocation decisions.

BAAM’s Liquid Strategy Group (“LSG”) and Quantitative Strategy team are each seeking a skilled technical professional. Applicants should have strong quantitative and coding skills (Python) as well as capabilities in financial modeling (MS Excel).

2023 LSG Analyst

The LSG Analyst will help develop robust market-leading proprietary systems encompassing portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management. Over time, BAAM aspires to materially broaden and grow the LSG platform from existing products with $6 billion of AUM today to a fully developed suite of products and investment capabilities for the daily liquid marketplace. The LSG Portfolio Management team will play a leading role in this growth and evolution and will be fully supported by BAAM’s sourcing capabilities and business management. This role will be crucial in helping build core infrastructure to support this growth and expand the platform. This involves:

Converting reporting and ad-hoc analysis to fully automated scripts using existing data infrastructure

Maintaining and monitoring manual processes which govern portfolio management, investment reporting, fund performance, and data integrity with a goal of full automation

Coordinating across functional teams to clean, transform, and store data sets for downstream use

Owning, running, and maintaining full suite of risk and performance reports using a combination of Python scripts and Excel models

Learning fundamentals of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management through hands on application

Assisting in the preparation of meeting materials including cash and leverage levels, demand for certain investments, aggregate investment flows, performance scorecards, etc.

Implementing automated solutions to identify irregularities and handle exception reporting for a diverse set of financial focused data sets

2023 Quantitative Strategy Analyst

The Quantitative Strategy Analyst will be responsible for helping to invest in systematic trading strategies across all asset classes. The investment process combines the analytical thinking of systematically investing in public markets with the strategic thinking of private equity. The team is involved in sourcing, evaluating, and investing in systematic and cryptocurrency focused hedge fund strategies across fund life cycles. This involves:

Meeting with the hedge fund manager and their team and conducing both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the relevant strategy.

Thinking strategically about quantitative methods for generating investment ideas and developing quantitative tools to improve BAAM’s overall investment process.

Creating bespoke quantitative models to profit from inefficiencies across various asset classes

Making recommendations regarding different styles of investing, given the current environment and future expectations.

Creating strategic partnerships with systematic hedge fund managers with the goal of developing bespoke investment opportunities.
